Hi, I'm Emily.

OUR BOY

On July 7th, we had my 20-week ultrasound where we found out, most importantly, that our child is healthy and on track with his growth and development. I had nightmares beforehand that we would go in and they would tell me that I was only 14 weeks along or some other ridiculousness as that. Aside from the baby’s health, I don’t know if there’s anything much worse for a pregnant woman than to go backwards in maternity time. Thankfully, the due date stays the same.

We also found out that Tiny is a boy! It was a surprise since neither of us really had an idea one way or another. Due to my extreme sickness throughout this entire pregnancy and the always-fast baby’s heart rate, everyone’s guess was a girl. Kevin & I both agreed that health was a priority; gender didn’t matter. Now that we know he’s a boy, however, it seems incredibly strange to think that he could ever have been a girl.

CHEETOS WHITE CHEDDAR PUFFS

Given my affinity for cheese, I’m surprised I didn’t know about these earlier. I was introduced to these white cheddar puffs a couple of weeks ago when one of my wedding couples gifted me an entire bag of goodies. Now every time we eat them (because obviously we had to go buy more), we blame you, Skylar & James.

SUMMER NIGHTS

I’m loving this milder summer weather the Midwest is currently having. Days of low-80s and nights of high-50s. Yes and please. People are out and about and the air conditioning is getting a little break. Not to mention, it’s a relief as we head into what is typically the hottest month of the year: August. The evenings smell like fall and I wish it would stay this way all year around.

PHYSICAL FUSION UV DEFENSE SUNSCREEN

When I worked in dermatology, I became very careful and observant to the laws of the sun. Every day all year around, you will catch me putting sunscreen on my face. This is by far my favorite sunscreen ever. First of all, it meets all of the dermatologist requirements for the percentages of active ingredients (you wouldn’t believe how many sunscreens do not) and I truly feel protected when outside. It is not oily at all so it layers perfectly under makeup, making it a perfect part of my daily routine. And, bonus, it is slightly tinted so that it doesn’t leave that white coating you often see after using regular sunscreen.

Unless you’re rolling in cash, it’s not an ideal sunscreen to use for full body as it’s pricey, but it does last a long time (6-12 months of daily use!) when using on just face, neck, and backs of hands. And, for the love of Pete, don’t rely on the sunscreen in your makeup. When choosing a sunscreen, look for the following active ingredients: zinc oxide or titanium dioxide or 3% avobenzone. I love Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch for all-over body sunscreen. Consider this your PSA.
