Hi, I'm Emily.

Next week, it will be T-minus 2 months until the wedding.  In celebration of that, here’s some interesting facts about outrageous weddings that set wedding world records.

The biggest wedding cake ever was the towering cake baked by a team of 58 chefs at Connecticut casino Mohegan Sun in 2004.  It was a 7-tiered cake that weighed more than 15,000 pounds, including nearly 5,000 pounds of frosting.  It required two forklifts to raise each tier.
The longest wedding dress train was 4,468 feet long.  Imagine tripping on that!
The most expensive wedding was a $100 million wedding thrown for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, and his bride, Princess Salama.  It was a 7-day even in 1981 and it included a stadium big enough for 20,000 wedding guests.  It was built especially for the celebration.  I guarantee that there will not be even a fraction of that many people at our wedding.
The oldest bride was 102 and married a man 20 years her junior.
The oldest bridesmaid was 105.
The longest engagement ever was 67 years.  The couple finally married at 82 years old, 67 years after getting engagement.
As much as wedding cake is my favorite part of any wedding, I’m glad that we aren’t having a cake put together with forklifts.  I’m glad I’m not 102.  I’m glad I have a barely-there train on my dress.  I’m glad there are not 20,000 people coming to our wedding.  I’m glad that by our wedding, we’ll have been engaged for 13 months, not 67 years!
I’m glad we’re not making a wedding world record.

Haha, you’re totally right and I’m going to leave it like that just as a tribute to my Uzbeks. 🙂

I like that you wrote “getting engagement” cause it sounds like you are quoting one of your ESL students 🙂
