I’ve never had heartburn before. In fact, when I woke up Monday night with it, I thought that I had something lodged in my chest and drank some water to try to wash it down. Little did I know…
This has been severe and on-going now for over 5 days. I went to the doctor Thursday, but there’s no “instant relief” heartburn medication. I have medication that will, over 1-2 weeks, help, but nothing instaneous. I called my doctor back yesterday after when I honestly thought I was not going to be able to breath because of the tightening in my chest. After learning, again, that there’s nothing else to do except try to sleep upright and avoid certain foods, I started my google search.
I learned that there are several home remedies for heartburn, none of which work for me. Apparently, for some, chewing gum is an instant heartburn relief. That was the easiest, simplest method. I went on to try an apple, celery, brown sugar, milk, cottage cheese, and vinegar. Nothing. I even went to the gym today and walked on the treadmill thinking I could walk it out of my system. I have plenty of burping, but still no relief. Last night I even had Kevin pat my back for a while; it felt so good. I told him that I now understand why babies cry when they need to be burped.
Unfortunately, I am still gasping through my heartburn spasms and praying for a day when I will be breath in and out with no pain. If anyone has further ideas, pass them my way. After the vinegar, I’m pretty sure I can handle anything!
