Hi, I'm Emily.
I convinced myself to try a 4 week challenge of running every morning, 5 days a week. I will continue with my regular evening workouts at the gym. This morning was the start of this 4 week challenge. I hate running, but last summer I got up to 3.5 miles and I felt pretty great so this summer, I’m challenging myself to 2.5 miles, 5 times a week. That should kick me down pretty fast.
Despite the fact that I barely got any sleep last night (couldn’t sleep despite my prescription sleeping pills and ended up with a rough 3.5 hours of sleep), I got up at 6:30 and ran. My pace was 10.36/mile and I finished 2.74 miles in 29 minutes. The most ironic thing that happened in my run was that I was focusing on breathing properly and just then the song, “Breathless” by the Corrs came on Meredith (my iPod). That messed up my breathing because then I started laughing. Also, I witnessed an ease-through stop sign and subsequent police pull-over (that’ll teach you to stop when it says “stop”) and a bird peed right in front of my face. It’s good that I wasn’t running slightly faster right then or I would’ve gotten it on the head.
Peace, coffee, and running shorts.
P.S. Big thanks to Kevin for my iPod/Nike running device which records all of my runs, the distance, time, pace, etc. and graphs it for me; it’s the only way that running becomes fun.
