Hi, I'm Emily.

I officially feel like a runner. Something kind of magical happened tonight that has made me feel this way.

As you saw, I have the 1-day-after-chemical-peel look and it’s rather painful. I skipped my run this morning because of this “injury”, but after work tonight, I really wanted to get outside so I decided to go for a walk (to avoid sweating). I started out walking, but that just seemed so boring to me. (This is where the magic happens.) I decided that if I were to choose between walking/not sweating/keeping my burns safe and running/sweating/painful burns, I’d rather run and suffer the consequences of the painful burns.
Now I feel like a runner.
The other cool thing? I didn’t push myself in my run (so as to get minimal sweat-damage), but kept myself at an even, easy pace and I still pulled in a good average minutes/mile!! I can tell that I’m getting more comfortable and once this challenge is done, I might have to start thinking of increasing the miles or lowering the speed. For now, I’ve got a fat jar of Nutella waiting in the pantry for me when I finish the full 4 weeks. (I started on a Thursday so that week was “week 1”, but didn’t count for a full 5 days.)
Peace, dinner, and summer evenings.
P.S. As a side note, despite my steady hand since a young age, I suffered a serious eye injury this morning during the application process of my mascara. Somehow I turned my hand wrong just when I turned my head (also wrong) and the wand went straight into my eye. It turned my instantly blind and I honestly was praying that I hadn’t lost my sight forever. After about 10 minutes and profuse eye-rinsing, I was able to open my eyes only in the darkness of the unlit bathroom (with the door closed as well to prevent any outside light to shine in). My left eyeball was sore for the majority of the morning, but it seems to have regained it’s strength now and both eyes are working with good clarity! Another crisis avoided.
