Tonight ESPN is airing the Parkersburg football game. Ever since the football coach was shot earlier this year, I told Kevin that this is movie-making material. I am not trying to be humorous about the coach’s death at all (it was a tragedy for sure) or the tornado that demolished the town last year, but seriously, this is Remember The Titans or We Are Marshall in real life. I told Kevin that if Parkersburg wins the game tonight, it would be the finale of the movie. Think about it, the town gets leveled by a tornado, but the whole town and football team work together to get the field ready for the first game, before they even start rebuilding anything else. (Think Friday Night Lights whole-town obsession with high school football) Then as the team is pumping iron in the weight room in June, a player’s older brother comes in a open fires on the coach. The coach’s wife is a first responder and arrives on the scene. I mean, all over terrible, terrible story… He dies. The team witnessed it. The whole town is in total shock and sorrow. And then, just 3 months later, they play there season opener game, minus their head coach.
I know that is really down-and-out and probably depressed you just as much as it did for me to type it, but on a lighter note, that whole movie-talk got me started talking about who would play me if I were on the football team and they made the movie. I decided that Demi Lovato would play me. She’s a cute little creature and I think she’s got enough spunk to be an Emily-wanna-be.
