Ever since I first starting seeing previews for The Blind Side, I knew it would be a movie made for me. I am a sucker for based-on-true-story football moves. This includes (but is not limited to) We Are Marshall, Rudy, Remember The Titans, & Friday Night Lights. I love true stories. I love football. I love movies. Give me a real-life football movie and it’s a perfect trio. I’ve said this many times before (here and here) so it’s probably not news to anyone about my love of football movies. Also, to note, I cry the most during football movies. I don’t think I’ve ever made it through one without crying.
That certainly was no different today when we went to see The Blind Side. It is the best movie I have seen in 2009, possibly in a much longer time frame. I was a sobbing mess throughout most of the movie and it didn’t end with the movie. In fact, as the credits started rolling so did more tears. By the time we got to the car, my chest felt like it was going to explode with tears. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so moved by a movie.
I realize this sounds extreme, but I am being very sincere. I feel like this movie has challenged me and inspired me. I feel emotionally spent and incredibly changed.
