Hi, I'm Emily.

This week was one of the busiest weeks of the year for me at work.  We hosted our annual Holiday Open House and we spent the last several months planning for this with all of the intense last-minute prep landing this week.  (I had conveniently planned my wedding/honeymoon right over the Spring Seminar so I just had to prep for that and got to be in Mexico during actual event; couldn’t have planned that better though my boss told me not to try that again…haha.)  To make all things a little more complicated, I had one person out sick the entire week and one person on vacation for part of the week so I felt pulled in about 24 directions trying to help out where we were short-staffed and also trying to keep up with my responsibilities for the Open House.

Thursday was the big day and I was running from 8 in the morning until 10 that night.  I personally felt pleased with how things turned out.  I felt like it was one of the most organized open houses that we’ve hosted as far as the behind-the-scenes paperwork, payments, products, packing, and shipping went.  Friday was an equally exhausting day with all of the tie-up ends to finish as well as phone orders and shipping…but we made it!!! It’s over until April 15th when we do the Spring version.  For now, I’m breathing a few sighs of relief.  Friday at 5 o’clock, I had never been so happy for the weekend.

Today is a particularly gorgeous day outside; 70 degrees in November [in Iowa]!  I grabbed my camera and went out this afternoon for some shots.  I needed something relaxing and invigorating to do.  I drove around for a bit and all I got were my normal close ups of fall twigs and flowers…

But I really wanted something with more color.  It feels like spring outside and I wanted to find something that reflected some color as well.  Then I remembered this place that I used to run by that I had always thought would be a great place to take wedding pictures.  Since there were no “no trespassing” signs, I helped myself, but I will say that several times I almost crapped my pants because I was so scared I was going to get caught.  At one time I heard a dog barking at a neighborhood house and I thought maybe they had watch dogs coming after me.  When a plastic bag blew in the breeze, I ducked under one of those large metal structures to hide.
I’m kind of over-reactive when I get nervous.  In the end, no need to fear, I got some great shots and did not get caught.  All I got was a muddy shoe when I stepped into a huge pile of wet mud.  Put that on my list of things to clean today.
Do not ship.  Save for Alvin.

I don't know. Maybe Alvin Geigly. Haha.

The trespassing pictures are cool. It was worth the risk I think. Also, I'm very curious about who Alvin is. Super-cop maybe??
