Hi, I'm Emily.

It was a great birthday.  Seeing as I’m very forgetful, it’s easy to understand how I could forget how much fun birthdays are!

When I got to my desk yesterday morning, there was a huge (I mean, huge!) cake there.  Kevin had made arrangements for this cake to be delivered from Yummy’s.  (Which coincidently is very yummy.)  Sharing it with the entire spa and the derm office still didn’t finish it off.  We have two rows left for ourselves.  Let me just tell you though, it’s absolutely delicious.  (I found out when I got home that he got another cake too–a chocolate buttercream cake–that’s in the fridge for us to eat.  This is how we started out three years ago.  On my 21st birthday, Kevin got my three cakes for my birthday.  We started dating immediately.)

I worked yesterday, but got a DermaSweep at work (yay!), then went out for lunch with my mama.  We hit up Indian food, my favorite.  My friends at work bought me a mani/pedi and I almost started crying; I didn’t expect anything from them and I felt like they went far above and beyond.  They are kind, generous, beautiful people.  (Ladies, you know who you are.)

After a busy day at work, I got to talk to my sister, Carla, on the phone for a while.  Then Kevin and I went out for dinner at Biaggi’s.  Before we went though, he let me open my present which was….drumroll….another camera lens!!!  (He got me this one for Valentine’s Day!)  My newest lens is a Spectrum 7 Af70-300!  It has a fantastic zoom (obviously) and I’m enthralled with it.  I never would’ve guessed a month ago that I would have not one, but two new beautiful lenses.  I am a lucky girl.

Here are some highlights of my birthday week…

My boss got my a bouquet of tulips as a thank-you for my work on the new software at the new spa.
Hogan, Mckenna, and Kylie sent me homemade Valentine’s cards.  I put them up at my desk at work so I will remember the happy things in life when I’m stressed out.

Carla sent me a birthday present.  I felt like an adult because I actually waited until my birthday to open it.  That’s a huge step for me.

She included a very appropriate card…

She sent me the most beautiful necklace!!  I absolutely love it!  When she bought it, Arneelius saw it and said, “Oh, is that for your sister?  It looks just like her.”

Enter the chocolate buttercream cake…

My favorite cookies in the world are made by my little brother.

Flowers from my parents.

Excuse me (I was leaving for the gym, thus the boots and workout clothes), I wanted to show you what my new apron from Mom looks like.  It’s this fabulous, vintage apron that she made for me.  I am so excited to cook with it on.  I feel like a 1950’s housewife now and, strangely, I’m okay with that as long as I have an apron this cool.

My new lens…

Looks like a glorious birthday indeed! It's good that Kevin hasn't backed off on the cake thing seeing as that's how he swept you off your feet.

That sounds like a WONDERFUL birthday. You are one loved woman 😉
