When I was 11, I was a birthday party for a friend and I ate a banana for breakfast. The rest of the day, I ended up hugging the toilet begging God for mercy on my stomach. I don’t believe it was the banana’s fault, but just coincidental timing. Unfortunately, that knocked bananas off my diet for over 5 years.
When I was 16, several friends and I were in a van on the way home from a basketball game and there were bananas in the van. We were all so hungry and couldn’t wait 15 minutes until we stopped at McDonald’s so I gave up my 5 year banana sabbatical and ate one…and I loved it!
Bananas and I have had a healthy relationship since then (8 years now!)…until today.
I wasn’t feeling good yesterday, but blamed that on Kevin for going around the round-about 3 times. This morning, I woke up with a really bad headache, but took some medicine with a banana and thought I’d be fine. On my drive to work, I suddenly had that oh-no-I’m-going-to-have-to-pull-over-and-barf feeling. I cranked the window down and let the crisp air knock my socks off, but the minute I walked into work (where the temperature was higher than 50 degrees), I got all clammy and dizzy.
I think I must’ve been slightly pale because my front desk ladies immediately asked if I was okay and then proceeded to tell me to go home. I’m slightly stubborn, but after talking to my boss and realizing that I was going to be no help at all on the clock today, I came home.
Now I’m laying on the couch praying that the banana stays down because if it comes back up, that will put me and the banana on parting ways again. I can’t take another banana-free 5 years.
