There are so many things to say and too little time.
Puerto Rico was amazing. I had no idea how much I needed a vacation, a time away from my normal routine. I make my life so crazy and being away from the crazy brought me back to reality in a way.
There were many crazies. (Including the most stressful photo shoot ever where everything that could go wrong with my equipment went wrong. On a positive note, I learned a lot of things.) There were many funny things. (Including the costumed people we met at the fortress!) But by the end of the trip, I realized that all of the crazies and funnies and bug bites (nearly 60), were worth it for the relaxation that I got to experience.
I took a yoga class one morning. There is nothing, nothing like doing yoga with the sounds of zen music backgrounded by the natural waves of the ocean and breeze through the palm trees. It was fantastic.
I got a massage (compliments of the Whipples). I drifted into a peaceful place where my muscles felt like they were coming back together. Afterwards, I spent some time in the sauna, then dipped between hot and cold whirlpools. I walked back to our bungalow in a state of zen.
We went to the only bio lagoon in the entire world. It changed my life. Honestly, unless you’ve been there, you wouldn’t understand. It was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I love feeling a connection with nature.
Among other relaxing things, the one thing I find most amazing in the world is the sound of the ocean. There is something about the consistency of the waves and the whooshing sound they make as they roll in over each other… No other sound in the world can top that. I love the ocean.
I’m off to bed. I have the sound of waves on my iPod so that I can sleep.
