Hi, I'm Emily.

To celebrate the fourth of July, I picked up some early-season corn on the cob and some brats.  (Which turned out to not be brats, but sausage instead.  Oh well.)  I started the water boiling for the corn and Kevin manned the grill.

Lunch turned out to be delicious.  Kevin is an excellent griller master.
The best part of the food was yet to come though.  I made a Jello cake, which was fabulous.  To knock it out of the park though, I added blueberries and strawberries for a “stars and stripes” theme cake.  It was mouthwatering.
Lastly was, of course, the All-American tradition of fireworks.  It was pouring buckets of rain in North Liberty, but my mom said that it was fine in Wellman, where they were going for the fireworks show.  It really seems silly to drive 45-minutes for fireworks when there were many that were closer to us, but we hopped in the car anyway and beat it to Wellman.  As we parked, the fireworks started.  The rain started towards the end so I grabbed the camera and took shelter just as they blew up a whole grand finale, the part that I really wanted to capture on camera.  Oh well…next year.
Nothing screams America like red, white, and blue fireworks.  Happy birthday.
