Being married and a Twilight fan all at the same time can be a challenge. It’s difficult to find the balance between the fantasy world of my vampire friends (and the beautiful Edward Cullen) and the real world of my human friends (and the amazing Kevin Crall).
I should clarify; it’s difficult to find the balance between my obsession with the fantasy world and with my desires of making sure that my husband knows that I truly do love him more than anything else.
Being engrossed in a book is one thing, but becoming obsessed is another. I think I’ve been obsessed since the release of the second book a few years ago. After a hiatus from the books or during a break between movie releases, I calm down for a while. Once another movie is released or I re-read the series, I’m all gun-ho, guns-a-blazing again for the vampires.
With the release of book three, “Eclipse”, in movie form in theatres this week, I got all revved up again for Edward. I’m very thankful that my husband tries to understand this crazed obsession that women (myself included) have with him, though I don’t think he really gets it. I love that he’s comfortable enough with who he is though that he’s not threatened by it.
The reality is that I love Kevin more than anything in the world. I just also happen to get on these vampire trains that run wild and fantastic. The third movie, by the way, is great!!! Michelle, Sarah, and I went to see it last night. We were all just rocking away in our chairs with smiles on our faces. We kept looking at each other with sighs of “awww.” I swear Bella and Edward have the most beautiful love. It doesn’t help that Edward is so eloquent and everything he says is just perfect. Bella is so human and does such stupid things sometimes (like hang out with Jacob!), but Edward has this beautiful, unconditional love for her that supersedes anything else. It’s truly beautiful to watch (or envision, if you’re reading the books).
Here’s to girls night at the movies with drool bibs.
