This was my very first try with textures.  I’m sure in a month, I’ll look back and say, “Wow, I didn’t know a thing.”  For tonight, I’m exhausted and happy with what I’ve learned so far.  


In short:
Top image SOOC.
Bottom image, added a spider wood image layered over top, opacity 25%, changed it to overlay, cut around couple, feathered the edges, added gaussian blur at highest level, flattened image, and added small level of lighting (the rest of the coloring was from the overlay of the wood tones).
