Hi, I'm Emily.

  • I was a pretty good student in school, however, I wish I would’ve paid more attention to geography and history and not so much attention to algebra and geometry. Turns out, it’s much more useful to know the aforementioned than the latter. I’ll have to pass those tips on to my children some day. (Note to future children’s teachers: It wasn’t me who told them that and, yes, of course, we’ll work on improving their grades in algebra and geometry for next semester!)
  • When my husband said I am like an old person stuck in my ways, opposing change, I officially knew: I am my father.
  • Sometimes crying over a loss from 7 years ago is cleansing. It’s like finally going and cleaning out the attic cobwebs and turning it into a beautiful little playroom with dress up clothes for the kids.
  • Werther’s Original in coffee flavor was one of the best discoveries of late. Thank you, Sarah N.
  • You know those automatic air freshners that spray when the stink gets to a certain level? Well, is it weird that when I walked into a bathroom, it sprayed right away? Like, I wasn’t going to do anything except fill up my water bottle in the sink. And I had just showered 2 hours previously. Is my perfume too much? That dumb air freshner has me all filled up with self-doubt now.
  • I went on the other side of the camera and realized several things:
    • It is far more nerve racking to be in front of the lens instead of behind it.
    • I am really critical of myself.
    • Good thing I just watched America’s Next Top Model so I could attempt to “work it” minus the rawr.
    • The “Lose Weight” function in Photoshop is freakishly awesome. Is there a quick-edit button for real life?
  • Migraines are life’s worst punishment. It’s like a torture chamber inside my head.
  • Chocolate chip cookie dough and freshly baked chocolate chips cookies are tied. Neither is better than the other and they both rock my socks off.
