I’ve had the privilege of working with Unique Events at several weddings last year, the first one in April. From my very first impression, I knew these guys were good. But as the night went on, I knew I had hit on a DJ service that wasn’t just good; it was the best. I don’t dole out that kind of generous compliment very quickly, but Unique Events blew me away.

It is my personal opinion that a great DJ takes a great level of skill. For me, a great DJ is someone who keeps the party going all night long and interacts with the guests, yet still remains nearly behind-the-scenes and doesn’t make the party about him/herself. Just for fun, I googled around to see what the internet says about great disk jockeying.

• A good DJ is one that looks comfortable behind the decks.
• Good DJs will look into the crowd and interact with the dance floor as opposed to having their head buried in the mixer the entire time.
• A good DJ enjoys talking to others, meeting new people, networking and making new friends. They are usually first to arrive at parties and last to leave.
• Good DJs understand that no matter how good they are and how much they know there is always more to learn. Put simplygood DJs love to learn and practice – they understand that average DJs practice until they get it right and only the very best DJs practice until they can’t get it wrong.
• A good DJ is prepared to start at the bottom, learn all they can and practice there butt off to get to the top. Good DJs believe in themselves and are prepared to do whatever it takes to live there dream.
• A good DJ is passionate about music, in fact they are almost obsessive about their music. They look high and low for the next big tune before it becomes the next big tune. They don’t worry about what others are playing and buying they only care about what they are collecting – they believe in their own musical taste and style and are not scared to take calculated risks if and when needed.

Aside from their DJ services, Unique Events also offers uplighting, photo booths, and monograms. They are the only DJ service I recommend to my bridal couples because I truly believe in their talent and their service. Their clients do too! See what they have to say!

Unique Events recently moved into a new space and I was asked if I would like to put some photography on their walls. When I took my piece over to the office, I grabbed my camera and asked Travis if I could take some photos of his new storefront. As you can see, it’s so welcoming and warm and I could’ve just laid down and curled up on that plush couch! (Also, isn’t that wall the coolest? It’s a stencil!)

I have a serious thing for this airplane! If it ever goes missing, it was probably me…
