It would’ve been easy to give in to wedding day jitters and worry about the looming clouds overhead with impending rain coming. But not them. They surrounded themselves with family and friends and took on the day with both grace and elegance that went far beyond anyone’s expectations. Because they knew that this day was perfect. It was perfect for them. It didn’t matter if it rained or if ties didn’t tie right; all that mattered was that they were finally going to be married. Nothing else mattered.
Getting to know them throughout their engagement, I have had the great privilege of becoming friends with them and seeing their relationship blossom, even from the very first moment I met with them to talk about wedding photography. When I met with Midori just a few weeks ago, we celebrated together the countdown and the last minute details that were falling into place. We joked about how people call it “your last moments of freedom” and I distinctly remember telling her as we finished our coffee that marriage was even better than she could imagine. Forget fleeting moments of freedom; marriage means holding onto someone and enjoying life together, which in the end, is actually more freeing than being alone for it. I told her, “It’s like having your best friend always there. It’s knowing that someone always, always has your back. It’s the comfort of knowing that you are mutually respected and known. It’s having a safe place with someone, not somewhere. It’s so much better than I could’ve ever imagined and it’s going to be the same for you.”
Their wedding was rich with emotion and over-pouring with their steadfast faith. I could speak for every guest there that it was a special wedding to be a part of. I am always a bit emotional at weddings because I treasure being a part of that big step in a couple’s life together and this day was no exception for my emotions.
Midori and Aaron, you have blessed me in so many ways. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Enjoy the rest of your week in Riviera Maya!!
Midori & Aaron opted for the First Look and it was so sweet to witness their first glimpses of each other.
Their bridal party was so classy. It was really chilly outside and rain was coming, but we kept blankets, jackets, and umbrellas off to the side so they could huddle up when they weren’t in the photos. I didn’t hear any of them complain and, in fact, most were generously giving their warm items to Midori and Aaron!
