As his sister, I could really use this time to embarass him with every detail of childhood memories and sibling rivalry in the Miller household. But I won’t be, well, I love this kid.
He wasn’t the sister I had wanted, but the second I first held him, I didn’t care anymore. When he was a toddler and we were outside together and our dog went crazy and bit his head, I simultaneously grabbed him up from the grass and kicked the dog with the force of my whole body until he let go. When he was a little boy and we couldn’t find him anywhere on the farm, I panicked with an indescribable crippling fear of what-ifs. When we found him–finally–accidently locked in the sweltering trunk of the car (led by his own innocent curiosity), I took him inside and secretly swore to never let him outside by himself again.
But now he’s all grown up and taller than me by nearly a foot and doesn’t need me to protect him anymore. Still, I’ll be nearby, ready to pick up the pieces should he ever need me. Because I love this kid.
Meet Jordan Parker.
Favorite season: Summer Favorite television show: Cops This really annoys you: People who show up late for something. The most important issue facing your generation is: Laziness. People are being too caught up in video games and stuff insead of enjoying the great outdoors. Something you love: Hunting Your friends describe you as: Funny, energetic, a hard worker If you could be on a reality TV show, what show would it be?: The Price Is Right What is one thing you couldn’t live without: My cell phoneJordan works security for the Iowa Hawkeye football games (plus some NFL games and the Super Bowl earlier this year) and so it seemed fitting to stop by Kinnick Stadium for a few photos.
And lastly, a photo of us, snapped by a nice stranger who walked by. The funny part is that I to him, “This is my little brother!” And he was all like, “Oh, I thought you two were dating.” To which I zipped my mouth shut and smiled. Then later said to Jordan, “Do you look really old or do I look really young?! I mean, there’s SEVEN years difference!”
