realize the 4th is over and gone, but I never got around to posting photos from it. So, here’s a snippet of our holiday!
We kept our holiday pretty low-key this year. Kevin got up in the morning and mowed the grass, while I watered the flowers & plants and did some laundry. We grilled for lunch and spent a majority of the afternoon lounging around in the air conditioning.
We met my family at the Kalona Park for dinner at 5. Dad was already grilling when we got there; about 30 burgers for all 7 adults and 4 kids. Mom had a feast already laid out: sauteed fresh green beans, banana pudding, iced tea, potato salad, ectera and so on. So much for “all I’m bringing really is some watermelon.” Never trust your mother.
It was still humid outside, but the breeze picked up and the temperatures thankfully started dropping with the sun so it felt nice outside. Ashton is walking now and is ornery as ever, but also the happiest baby I’ve ever seen. He figured out the ring-around-the-rosie for getting food off of everyone’s plates and had his own version of a progressive meal. He is still Grandpa’s Little Buddy though and usually finds his way back to him no matter how far away he walks.
Kiley & Ashton played here for at least an hour…
Later on at the fireworks, I wanted to try something different for photos. I took some tips from online and shot on a 2-3 second shutter speed and did a manual focus change while the shutter was open (so I was changing the focus while taking the photo). It’s definitely a different technique and I’d love to play around with it some more. This guy is amazing at it!
Happy belated 4th of July!!
