ell, it’s Sunday, November 3rd. I feel like there are lots of things to be thankful for, but I’ll just be honest. Right now, I’m incredible grateful for the extra hour of sleep I was able to get during the night.
I’m the kind of person who really requires about 10 hours of sleep each night in order to feel refreshed when I wake up. Eight hours will suffice, but less than that is a total nightmare. (All you moms out there are like, “Just you wait…”) In the spring when we lose an hour, my body takes about 2 weeks to adjust. Seriously. It’s like minor jet lag. But give me an extra hour and my body is like, “Yes, please, let’s do this more often.”
So, as trivial as it really is, I’m thankful for that one extra hour that I get each fall.
Side bar: my dad must have the same jet lag problem as I do because he starts changing the clocks–whether forward or backward–about 2 days before it actually changes. I’m exaggerating slightly, but by Saturday afternoon, the clocks in their house are usually already on the new time…just so he can start getting used it to. It always messed me up as a kid because, as confusing as the idea of time was anyway, add in that I didn’t know if the clock was the current time or the future time as it would be the next day. I stopped by my parents’ house on Friday evening and Dad was already talking about changing the clocks. Mom put her foot down, but I’m sure they were changed by yesterday noon.
