One can never predict how the Midwest weather will be in December. With many, many family members and friends coming in from out of town and state for their wedding, one of Mollie & Jake’s concerns had been that there not be a snowstorm. The snowstorm held off for one day (it came on Sunday!) and instead we got the frigid temperatures (but we did get some sun)! I posted this image on Facebook earlier this week and someone commented that I should really let people know how incredibly cold it was since these two make it look like any other fall day.
Ever since I first met Mollie & Jake, I couldn’t wait for their wedding. They just ooze love and gratefulness for being together. When I met their families, I knew even more how great they are together. Their mutual respect and love for each other is visible to anyone looking. It was such an honor to be able to document their wedding day.
The lace detailing on Mollie’s gown was stunning!
Their first look was so incredibly sweet. I love seeing them see each other for the first time.
I touched base with Mollie about outdoor photos. Knowing how many guests they were expecting, both barns at Celebration Farm were fully set up and there were very little indoor spaces available. Mollie said she had been hot all day and would love to go outside. My husband had grabbed an extra, really thick coat that morning in case and so we wrapped Mollie in it and headed outside. I would arrange Mollie & Jake and then Kevin would grab the coat and I would take the photo and he would throw it back over her. I love that we were able to use the outdoor space because it provided some of my favorite shots!

We used the same coat technique for the bridal party, having the ushers help out with coat-grabbing. I have to commend the bridal party because no one complained, not one person. Which goes to show that this couple really does have great friends/siblings!
The ceremony was held in the Timber Frame Barn.
I adore this shot that Kevin got from the balcony!
After the ceremony, the guests attended cocktail hour in the Double Round Barn.
In lieu of a wedding cake, aunts and cousins made homemade treats! Judging by the line to the dessert bar, I’d say it was a really big hit!
And I’ll end with one last one that puts a smile on my face: Jake dancing with Mollie’s grandmother.
