Hi, I'm Emily.

THE END OF WEDDING SEASON

Fall is always the busiest time of the year for photographers. This fall was no exception from any other, which meant lots of juggling of my schedule as well as getting in a few naps to keep this mama moving. With my due date quickly approaching, I was so thrilled to finish shooting my last wedding of the season at 36 weeks still feeling pretty good and healthy (aside from the immediate-need-intense hunger pains). I think part of it was mental because it felt like the day after that wedding, my body slowed down and my energy levels dissipated. I had known all along that I just needed to make it through October 25th and I think my body was like, “Great job, now rest.” I’ve been taking it slower these past few days, but I’m still pushing pretty hard with post-processing to get everyone’s images and albums wrapped up before Tiny arrives. My couples have been so amazing both this year and the ones coming up next year. Their excitement and love for our growing family has been such a blessing.

BAGGY SWEATERS

Since I refuse to buy any more maternity clothes, I’m stuck with a few items that can still work with the colder temperatures. I purchased a few warm, oversized cardigans that work well now (since they don’t have to close in the front) over maternity tank tops, but will also work great this winter when I’m at home cozying up with our baby. I also found some cute sweaters that are both long and loose, two things which I think will work great for my post-baby body. We shall see; it’s hard to plan for what you’re not sure of or have never experienced before.

MOTHER’S SPECIAL BLEND OIL

Speaking of pregnancy, I had read about this oil months and months ago. I purchased it and have used it religiously since. The biggest benefit is that my stomach doesn’t itch like a lot of pregnant women complain about. It’s really moisturizing without being sticky or heavy. It’s supposed to help prevent stretch marks as well and though I’ve read that stretch marks are more hereditary than anything, I can say I haven’t gotten any yet. Fingers crossed! Who knows it the oil is helping or not?

TAYLOR SWIFT’S “1989”

I admit: I boarded the bandwagon. I wasn’t going to, but I just couldn’t help it after hearing the very first track. I used to think T.Swift was a floozy, but I think I’ve changed my mind. This album is perfect in every way. I cannot get enough of it. I’ll just be over here listening to it for the rest of the year.
