They first met 6 years ago. She had a rare day off from softball in the middle of the summer and was hanging out with a friend, slowly swinging and talking at the elementary playground behind her friend’s house. He rode up on his bike with one of his friends–a mutual friend of Sara’s–and it was nearly love at first sight.
“I had never dated anyone for longer than 3 months and when we made it through that, I was just proud I made it that far. Once we hit a year, I knew it was meant to be because we went through a lot in one year. I can’t put an exact date or time on it; he’s just the one because I know I don’t want to take on life with anyone else but him!” she says.
He adds that he knew because “my dad told me that if I ever found someone who resembles my mom, to marry her.”
Shawn proposed earlier this year in May and they are planning their fall wedding next year. I was so excited to meet up with them, even though we were battling rain the whole way through the session as well as bugs (my body was covered in welts the next day from all those bites I got!) and technical difficulties from the extreme humidity of the rain causing my camera lenses to fog over. We made it though and I’m so grateful for clients who keep smiling through it all!
We shot their session at their family farm and the old buildings provided the most fun textures and colors!
