She confesses that they didn’t really have a proper first date. “I was in high school still and may or may not have told my parents I was going to hang out with my best friend (she’s now my maid of honor!). Blake and I just drove around and talked. He took my to the land he recently purchased (from my dad, who is a realtor, hah!). Little did I know that three years later, we would build a house on that same piece of land and it would be the place he would ask me to marry him!”
In the winter of 2020, having just finished building their house and moving in, Blake planned a house warming party with their family, many of whom had helped with the build. Grace began to be suspicious for no reason other than his dedication to planning this party. “Our families arrived and Blake told me to come with him to thank them for coming. He started to give a speech, thanking everyone who helped us get to this point and then said, ‘There is one last thing left to do.’ He got down on one knee and told me how this house wouldn’t be a home without me, then asked me to marry him!”
Blake describes Grace as hardworking, determined, and caring. He says he knew she was the one when he “saw how sweet, kind, and caring she is. Also, how she interacts with my niece and nephew and how will do anything for either of them.”
Grace says there wasn’t a specific time when she knew. She “just kind of always knew that there would be nothing that we couldn’t get through. Always choosing each other was so easy.”
Grace and Blake are so much fun to be around. They are funny and laidback. It’s clear that Blake would do anything for Grace and I am so excited to see them begin their marriage together later this year! We lucked out with amazing (albeit windy) weather this past weekend and the most gorgeous sun glow!
