We had one day to make this shoot happen and it was forecasting thunderstorms. (We all had major deja vu; remember their rainy engagement session and then a derecho in Iowa the week of their wedding, knocking out power to their venue???) Three hours before the session, the rain was still holding off, with high humidity and sunny skies. But then, it started pouring, sheets of rain. The radar showed it letting up right as their session would start so we went ahead as planned, even as it was raining on my car on the drive there.
I wore rain boots so I could scout out area when I got there. I walked the entire fossil gorge and the waterfalls were flowing and every spot that I usually use there was inaccessible without boots. (I’m talking, walking through tiny rivers!) I found a great dry rock to use, but could not figure out how to get them to it without going through water to get there until I realized we could forego all the usual pathways into the gorge and park across the street and walk down the embankment, the only dry way to get to the rock! Thankfully, they were game for this plan and it all worked out and, guess what, it didn’t rain one drop throughout their entire session! The sun even came out!
Nicole & Matt got married last year and I could not contain my excitement earlier this year when we messaged me saying she’s pregnant! Her sister was also pregnant at the time (now with a 1 month old baby) and so we started immediately planning a time for Nicole and Matt to come back and visit once their newest nephew would be born, combining all of this with a pregnancy announcement photo shoot.
This little boy is going to be the luckiest! He’s got such wonderful parents!!
We got to add in some family photos as well! Look at how gorgeous they all are! Remember these two handsome ring bearers?
