Not a lot of weddings start out in the quiet calm of the couple’s home, but if you really want to have a relaxing start to your wedding day, this is how you do it! When I arrived at Anna & Matt’s home, Anna was just wrapping up with hair and makeup in the living room, Matt was nearby at the park with their daughter, Maci, and everything felt like that big exhale feeling: peaceful. Matt brought Maci back home and fed her lunch; Anna put Maci down for a nap; they both got ready and then shared their first look outside their home before we went over to Noelridge Park where their ceremony would later be. It was just the loveliest start to a wedding day and that feeling stayed with us all day.

After their ceremony, we headed to the NewBo District in Cedar Rapids for their reception at The Bohemian. Their cocktail hour was up on the rooftop with a lovely breeze flitting through and the most delicious charcuterie boards I’ve ever had. (Seriously. I wish I had another one right this moment.) Then we all went down, down, down to the Underground Wine Cellar for dinner before heading back up to the rooftop for dancing under the stars. It was the happiest celebration with such kind people and I’m so honored that I got to be part of it.

And lest you had any doubts, of course Maci stole the show.
