The extended warmth of summer meant that the leaves turned later this year than they usually do, meaning we had the most gorgeous foliage for Samantha and John’s wedding day! Not only that, but the weather, despite being a little breezy, was a perfect mid-60s and gorgeous.
It’s been a bit since I’ve had a wedding out at Wilson’s Ciderhouse (which is a shame because I love that place and the people there) and I was so excited to be back!! Sam and John picked perfect fall tones for their day, including the popular burnt orange/terracotta color, but switching it up to more pink undertones than orange, which I loved! They paired that with beautiful dark blue suits and John’s floral tie pulled it all together.
The day was very relaxed, a perfect fit for the laid back couple. (Samantha was very excited to tell me that her makeup artist told her she’s the most chill bride she’s ever had. A compliment, if I ever heard one!) It meant that we were able to get so many photos because we were never running behind or playing catch up. In fact, there were even pockets of time when we could take some extra photos! Everyone, wedding party included, was so fun and easy to work with.
Samantha and John first met in high school when they swam for the YMCA swim team, but it wasn’t until the summer after graduation that they got to know each other better (she was a lifeguard and he was a pool manager–“scandalous, I know!”) and had their first date. “I couldn’t believe she joined me because I thought she was way out of my league,” John said. “I was fist pumping the air at just the opportunity to date her.”
And now, years later, I’m guessing he still has that feeling because now she’s his wife.

In the fall when the sun sets earlier, we go outside earlier for golden hour photos and this was a perfect time, toward the end of cocktail hour, to head out to the orchard and grab a few more portraits before the reception began.
