Their engagement session last October had been on a cold, overcast day and we really went 180° with the weather because it was very sunny and breezy and in the spring-hot range of mid-80s. (I can’t say truly hot because we know that those 100° days are coming…) There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and I’m not saying that as an expression. There really wasn’t. Maggie said, “I mean, I could do with a few!”
So needless to say, there was no rain (yay!), but it was very bright and windy. We did some photos outside in the open, then moved to the singular shaded area on the north side of the venue which was still windy, and, finally, ended inside the vestibule of Rolling Meadows Event Center, which was a gorgeous area to shoot portraits; bright, well-lit, clean lines, and, especially after battling the wind outside, a dream to be able to settle dresses and veil and hair and have everything stay exactly as they were.

Maggie’s dream for her flowers was to have them look like bunch of stems picked from a field of wildflowers and Kirra from Unhinged Floral Co. absolutely nailed it. There were so many textures and colors that I just kept turning the bouquets around all day, finding new flowers that I hadn’t noticed before. It was like looking at art.

Her shoes were custom-made in Greece. She said she has wide feet and has a hard time finding comfortable shoes so when she found an Etsy shop that makes custom shoes, she decided to go for it. She gave them the measurements of her feet and they custom-made these beautiful shoes for her to wear for her wedding. (In beautiful irony, they are going to Greece for their honeymoon!)

The ice cream sundae bar was a huge hit, especially because it turned out to be such a hot day. The customizations were endless; these were just some ideas.
