letter-in our six years of marriage, this past year has brought about the biggest change. (He goes by Henry.) We found out I was pregnant last year, just a few days before our fifth wedding anniversary. Your surprise trip to Chicago ended up with a lot of vomiting and a lot of napping in the hotel room, but I still treasure that trip. Maybe even more than I would have otherwise. It was simultaneously our last trip as the two of us and our first trip as the three of us.

During this past year, you’ve supported me in every way possible through a tough pregnancy, a busy wedding season, and then, of course, the hormonal craziness that is “new mom” and “I don’t know what I’m doing.” You showed me this past year how truly steadfast you are.

I remember on our wedding day thinking that I couldn’t love you more. Even though I had been told that love grows over time, it still just seemed impossible. Yet each year that goes by gets better and better. Do we work hard on our marriage? Of course. We’d suffer greatly if we didn’t. But it’s so rewarding to share my life with you.

I want to continue laughing with you, loving you, parenting with you, holding hands with you, sharing chores with you, and growing older with you. Before there was Henry, there was just us. And forever on, you and I will be the groundwork, the foundation, to our little family. I couldn’t be more proud of us.

Happy anniversary, my love.

“It doesn’t seem like it has been 4 years already,” I told you a few evenings ago.You agreed and added that it’s been a really good four years.

We recently added another milestone to our marriage–buying our first home. Through the water damage, the cleanup, the repair, the week without appliances, the sub-flooring, and the misadventures of delayed furniture delivery, we trooped through it together.

There’s no one I’d rather be going on this adventure with.

You bring me laughter. You are my rock. You tell me to stop taking on so much. You give up the TV so I can watch DVR’ed shows. You make my coffee every morning. You take care of me. You love me so unconditionally that a day doesn’t go by when I feel like I could do nothing to deserve you.

But that’s the beauty of love. Because I love you in the same way that you love me. Unconditionally.

I tell you often, “I like being married to you.”

And you always respond, “Yeah, it’s pretty great.”

We’ve got the rest of our lives for all this greatness…

She was new to the area; he was a hometown boy. They shared a few high school classes and she quickly realized that those were the classes she looked most forward to, not because of the class, but the company. Fast forward years later and she had a running joke with him that when he proposed, he’d need to take her to Mexico and train a dolphin for the proposal.

This past August, they got up on a Sunday morning and decided to go out for brunch. As she went into the bathroom to get ready, she was greeted by a large stuffed dolphin with a giant sparkly ring in its mouth. The rest, you could say, is history, except that it’s their history; their beautiful history that is moving them closer to their wedding day.

I told Carrie & Nick that I didn’t need a body language expert to read them; I could read their language just fine and it spoke love, ease, beauty, and comfort. There’s a certain level of serenity from being with someone for a long time and it was evident as she leaned into him and he kissed her.

This moment is one of my favorites.

Their dogs/children got in on the action too! 🙂

Carrie & Nick, I feel like I could go on and on about how much I adore you both. Thankfully for me, photos speak louder than words so just know that I keep looking at yours and smiling to myself. Xoxo, me

They met through a friend and she says it was pretty much love at first sight. Within a week of meeting, they were going out on the first of many dates together. She is pursuing art and photography and I could tell that she’s had him model for her before; he was a natural. Aside from their easy-going natures and quick smiles, they have this nearly tangible chemistry. I kept saying that their body language was so beautiful because it truly was! Sometimes it’s easy to freeze up in front of a camera, but these two, well, they were just 100% real and made my heart melt as I watched them.

Abby & Mike, thank you. You have a beautiful love that is truly a blessing to witness.

This photo shoot was a collaboration for a video project. More details coming soon on that! 🙂
