He was doing laundry; she was working a late shift. She called her friend and asked her to come save her on her break. Her friend decided not just to save her, but to bring along someone who just may change her life. (Good friend points, folks.)
It was instant connection for him; he just knew. A year and nine months later, at her sister’s birthday party, he made fortune cookies for dessert and while Karissa’s sister opened gifts, everyone broke into their cookies. Karissa’s fortune was, “The best is yet to come.” He opened his cookie and said to her, “I think this one was for you.” He handed it to her and she read the fortune: “Will you marry me?” In the background, mom videotaped and siblings started shrieking. And there, among dearest family members, he got down on his knee and offered her a beautiful diamond ring as she said the only word that he wanted to hear: “Yes!”
Karissa and Brandon were a dream to photograph. Their connection is so palpable that I had to just keep my camera ready to catch “unscripted” moments.
