It was the Saturday after Valentine’s Day, February 18th. The colored lights spilled over, under, and around the beautiful archway of the Center Street Bridge in downtown Des Moines as they strolled hand-in-hand, breathing in the brisk night air. In the very center of the bridge over the glass floor that looks directly down into the Des Moines River, he got down on a knee and asked her to be his wife. That spot will forever mark the shift in their relationship, the spot of their commitment to forever together, the spot where he asked and she said yes.
We went to that very spot for some of their photos, but we started out the evening at the Greenwood Park Rose Garden. Mike & Julie, you already know that I love you two, but seriously, I loooovveee you two!
Can you believe these roses?? In Iowa in October?? I was told that some of the roses are a specialty blend that can survive our winters.
Oh, Julie…hello!
This is the bridge where he proposed. Glory be, the architectural lines were giving me heart palpitations. Y’all know how much I am a sucker for lines!!
Little lady Sammy got in on the photos as well and she was very well-behaved, which I learned is not unusual for her. She’s is Mike’s little baby (he’s had her for 8 years) and he spoils her rotten. She has a really laid-back personality and just went with the flow.
How clever are they? The back of their shirts note the date they are getting married: July 13th.
I’ll end with one of my personal favorites. I love being around their love.
