It was this past spring when they went shopping for an engagement ring. But as summer rolled around, she still had an empty ring finger. Then came fall and she began to get impatient.

He had planned several separate attempts for a proposal, all foiled by her, unusual work schedules, or innocent friends. Finally, in September as their 5 year anniversary rolled around, he decided this had to be it. He had planned to propose right before they left to go out to dinner…but their roommate came home and he put it off. He was going to do it during dinner, but Emily wouldn’t give him a chance as she commiserated to him that they were celebrating 5 years together, but he still hadn’t proposed.

It wasn’t until they were home and she had climbed into bed that he came around to her side with his hand behind his back and knelt down beside her. She didn’t believe him, telling him that he was faking her out because of her complaints during dinner. But this time, after so many tries, it was the real deal. The proposal that he had never planned, but that became theirs all the same.

Emily & Owen are planning their wedding for next August, just before they mark their 6th year together, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of their day! They have a true sense of friendship and ease around each other–some of which can only come with having spent years together–and their love for each other is beautifully evident in their interactions with each other.
