Hi, I'm Emily.

They’ve come a long way from their first time meeting in college. And with that journey has come love, commitment, and contentment just being with each other. Linea and Nick are the kind of people who, when they love, they love with all they have. You can see it not just from their interactions with each other, but from the bonds they have formed with their families and their closest friends. They bring life in their own ways, but together, they bring a team; the one complements the other in such a way that you can’t even imagine them apart.

One of the scriptures they had in their service so well describes them, not only together, but by building their marriage on God: “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

I knew back when I first met Linea & Nick that they would kick my 2013 wedding season into gear with a fabulous punch of all things wonderful. They did. It was like unicorns and glitter.

Linea rocked a pair of mustard yellow J.Crew heels for their engagement session so I knew her wedding shoes (by Gianni Bini) would be stunning and perfect.

Linea’s Oleg Cassini gown was nothing short of spectacular. Linea added personal touches throughout her entire wedding and the gown was probably my favorite because, though the gown itself was new, Linea added buttons on the back from both of her grandmother’s wedding dresses. She also used the lace from her grandmother’s veil to wrap around her bouquet.

Having one’s wedding in January in Iowa is always a bit iffy, but I think I can speak for Linea and Nick and say that the day was absolutely perfect. Linea had hoped for snow and also for outdoor photos; both of her wishes came true! It was the warmest day of the entire week and the sounds of melting, dripping snow could be heard everywhere–like Narnia in spring–and even though the temps were still in the mid-30s, it was truly one of the best days. I can also say that because I was in a coat and scarf. 🙂 But I did hustle right on through the photos and tried to keep things moving quickly so that noses didn’t get red or lips blue.

Um, hello…THIS GOWN!!!

So GQ. I have too many favorites to count, but this is one of them.

The bridal party joined us outside for a bit and I loved being able to use natural, outdoor light! Thank you, everyone!

I have a whole series of sister-photos and every time I look at them, I feel a little bit warmer inside.

Special moments with dad.

To entertain their guests before dinner, they had personalized crosswords and mad libs at each place setting, of course with personalized pens as well.

Their thumbprint tree. As guests came into the reception, they added a leaf to the tree. Again, I loved all of the personal touches Nick & Linea added throughout their day and this is a beautiful treasure for their wall.

The coffee bar was a huge, huge hit and the line was long the entire night. There was everything from drip brews to lattes to hot cider to tea. It was clear I was not the only coffee drinker there!

Add in another fun element: a s’mores bar. When Linea first told me about this, I was like, “Stop the presses, this is going to be the best wedding ever!!” And you know what? It was. Except that I never even roasted any marshmallows! Haha. I didn’t think of it until I was at home salivating over the photos.

Their cake from New Pioneer Co-op was topped with two geese because 1) coincidentally, both Linea and Nick had the nickname “goose” during their childhood and 2) geese mate for life.

Linea & Nick, words can’t adequately describe how much I adore you both. Your love is so special and sweet that you deserve your own category. It was a blessing to be part of your day. I really mean that too; a blessing! Thank you. Xoxo, E
