I’ve been using essential oils since before Henry was born. Somehow having a child makes you evaluate your entire approach to health. Before kids, if you feel sick, you take the day off of work, swallow some medicine, and rest. After kids, you don’t have the luxury of spending a day in bed. (Oh, how lovely would that be though?) And aside from just not having the time for yourself anymore, you are also constantly on alert for the health of your offspring. Because if he/she/they get sick, it directly impacts you as well. (Hello, long nights, short naps, crying, fever, and constant parent-worry.)
So anyway, I didn’t care about preventative care before having a child. That sounds really blasé, but it’s the truth. I didn’t get sick much and I took it for granted.
So here are: I’m a mama. Trying to be one step ahead of germs and sickness. I have several favorite essential oils, and Thieves is one of them. It’s supports healthy immune function, and helps maintain a healthy respiratory system. It basically kicks germs in the face and has helped keep our family healthy and our home clean. (And using Thieves for cleaning is pretty much the best thing ever.)
Fun story: the name “Thieves” is inspired by four 15th-century French thieves who formulated a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals they used while robbing the dead and dying during the Plague. In exchange for lesser punishment, the judges asked for the recipe that kept their immune systems working as they should.
Part of my nightly routine involves using this roller to help keep me healthy.
Ingredients:
- 15-20 drops Thieves essential oil
- Fractionated coconut oil to fill the rest of the bottle
- a 10ml roller bottle
Directions:
Add Thieves to to an empty roller bottle, then fill the rest of the bottle with fractionated coconut oil. Put the roller top on, give it a shake, and you’re done.
For usage, I apply it every night to the bottom of my feet.
