I had been looking forward to their wedding day for a long time and not just because I adore shooting at and working with everyone at Walker Homestead. I knew we were going to have so much fun because hanging out with Jean Louise and Trent at their engagement session earlier this year was so great and I just couldn’t wait to redo it all again (times a whole day)!
It is August in Iowa so, yes, it was a hot, sunny day, however, it was also breezy and that breeze made the shade comfortable. We started the day out at Walker Homestead, where it was quiet and calm. Only a few people were there, including Jean Louise and her sister, Grace; both getting their hair and makeup done. Having space to relax before everything really gets going is so key to maintaining calmness throughout the day and I loved that Jean Louise could have that peaceful prep time.
Because there were some minor snafus with transportation, Trent couldn’t get there on scheduled time, but I love that I was able to have lots of extra time with just Jean Louise doing portraits of her; time I don’t usually get on wedding days! When Trent got there, we were able to go right into their first look and then portraits and that is when the train, so to speak, leaves the station. From that moment on at every wedding day, time just zooms past and, before you even know it, it’s time for the ceremony!
Jean Louise & Trent’s wedding day was beautiful and filled with so much laughter and excitement and love. I’m so excited to share some of my favorite images from their day!
Give me a white wall at every single venue and I will be such a happy camper!!!!
