I admit it: I have never watched Star Trek before.  *collective gasp*  I know, right?

So yesterday while we were making Christmas cookies and dipping pretzels in chocolate (our house is filled with holiday cheer!), we had the new Star Trek movie playing.  Everyone else in the world probably knows about the “Live long and prosper” salute, but I had never seen that before.

Today, when I left to go meet some friends at the coffee shop, I gave Kevin the V-shape hand salute and said, “Peace be with you.”  Kevin started laughing at me and said, “Um, that was Jesus, not Spock.”  Oops.

I am clearly not a Trekkie yet.  “Live long and prosper” or “peace be with you”?  Same idea, right?
