Hi, I'm Emily.

  • Husband says it’s a good thing I took his advice and called Verizon [again]. They moved my “elible for renewal” date up, which means we’re now sporting these guys:

  • Funny story with the phones. So I got the date moved up and called Kevin and said, “Do you believe in miracles? Meet me at the Verizon store after work.” We were amped, all ready for our new phones. We walked into the Verizon store at 5:15 and they said that their server had just gone down and they couldn’t do anything. Just our luck. They kept saying it might be in the next half an hour, but finally sent us home and told us to come back the next day. Gosh, what a letdown.
  • At the ripe age of 25, I tasted my very first key lime pie. It was amazing. Go ALDI. (Thanks, Sara, for opening my world.)

  • I closed the lock on the front door with my foot. Mad skills, people.
  • I consistently oversleep every morning. This is a habit that needs to be changed.
  • Once that Friday song gets stuck in my head, I can’t get it out. It’s driving me crazy. I would rather have 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall in my head than that Rebecca girl. (I apologize if, by saying that, I got the Friday song stuck in your head now too. But really, which seat would you take?)
  • I stumbled across a weights and measures chart and am incredibly intrigued with linear measures like “rod”, “furlong”, and “league”. I will start using them post-haste for my running distances. I ran 20 furlongs yesterday and now my legs are so sore! or That 80 rod run just wore me out. Yeah, I’m actually too cool for some people.
  • I was so excited about filling out my basketball bracket. Excitement gone. If anyone, anyone has these four teams in your final four, you get a whopping gold star from me…and potentially a high-five too if I’m feeling generous enough.
  • My sisters are both coming to Iowa in April. This. Makes. Me. Excited!
  • I love my dad’s laugh. So when he called me to tell my another hysterical quip from my littlest niece (same one who drew a picture of me on the toilet), I had to laugh right along with him. I don’t know what’s funnier: my dad belly-laughing or my niece’s funny one-liners. Both make my day.
  • I like saying “Bucklebury” because it makes me sound British. I always wanted to be British. This is my only shot.
