Hi, I'm Emily.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated you on our new house. And much has happened!!

Here’s a rundown:

  • Our basement was gutted (because of the flooding; not just for the heck of it), then new insulation and drywall was put up.
  • My mom—bless her heart—came over on a Friday night to help Kevin & I paint the basement (right before our double-header wedding weekend).
  • New trim, doors, and door jams went in a few days later.
  • I “touched-up” some of the paint on the walls and then proceeded to basically repaint the entire basement. (There are still a few spots that are bugging me that I need to get to.)
  • Carpeting was installed!!! There used to be laminate, but after the flooding, we decided to put in carpet instead. It was a great decision because the basement is so much cozier and homier than it was before. Plus, new carpet smells and feels so great! And it looks soooo awesome.
  • My piano was saved from the flood and tuned.
  • My new office desk arrived and the computer finally moved from the kitchen table to a more permanent (and organized) location!
  • My mom recovered all of the pillows that initially came with our couch and our living room is bursting with color!

  • I became obsessed with plants and now have a variety of them all over the main floor, including my first indoor tree! Next up: my little brother is building me a large custom-sized planter for the deck where I’m going to plant boxwood.

  • Kevin fixed the leak in the kitchen window.
  • I hung all the curtain rods in the house. I bought blackout curtains for the basement and fabric for my mom to make the rest of our curtains. The bedroom curtains are done and look amazing!! While we wait for more fabric to come to finish the main floor, a few of the panels are done in the living room and kitchen and I love them! My mom is superwoman.
