Hi, I'm Emily.

Six years.

That’s how long they’ve been together.

They first met when Emily’s sister, Sarah, dragged Emily–who was 18 at the time–to a party with a bunch of coworkers. The next day, a few of Emily’s bridesmaids recall lying on Emily’s bed talking about how she got to dance with a 22 year old boy. Oh, the juicy details!

In the time since that first dance together 6 years ago, Emily & Owen have been through good times and bad. They’ve held each other through the sorrow of losing a parent (Emily’s father passed away 3 years ago) and celebrated each other’s accomplishments of graduation, careers, and growing up. This past Saturday was a perfect celebration of their steadfast love for each other.

In honor of her father, Emily had two photo charms–a wedding portrait of her parents and a more recent photo of her dad–as well as his wedding band attached to her bouquet. It was the perfect way of keeping him with her throughout the day.

Emily & Owen opted for a First Look and I’m so glad they did!

How stunning are they?!?

Favorite.

In lieu of her father, Emily chose her uncle to walk her down the aisle and give her away. I don’t believe there was a dry eye during this processional as Emily’s dad’s absence was so strongly felt.

The reception was at the Clarion Highlander Hotel in Iowa City, a close distance from the church.

They call each other tweedy instead of sweetie and the “close-up kissy veil picture” definitely captures what I like to call “Emily’s tweedy face” 🙂 LOVE all the pictures and the people that are in them!
