It was a gorgeous day for a wedding (despite a few sprinkles) and Sarah and Brian (but mostly Sarah, haha) had put so much thought into every detail. The color palette was stunning–all the shades of pink and corals–and the textures of the florals were so visually interesting. Not only that, but I love a good candle conglomerate and the various heights and styles of candles used in the ballroom were magical.
Often at the Hyatt and Iowa River Landing area, photo spots are limited during the day because of harsh sunlight (you have to be really strategic about your background), but because we had cloud coverage, there were so many new and fun angles to play with! It sprinkled off and on, but every time I pulled up the radar, it would show that we were in the worst of it right then and it was still very manageable. Brian deferred to Sarah about the rain and Sarah said she wasn’t worried at all so we went with it and I’m so glad we did!
Randomly, the Pan-American Wrestling Championship was taking place next door at the arena, with the hotel playing a big hosting role, so there were teams there from all over North and South America and I was unsure how the additional traffic would affect the day. Because of the way the ballroom and ceremony space were set up, I’m happy to say we didn’t even notice that we weren’t the only ones there. The ceremony was on the South Terrace and it felt so private. With the reception being directly inside in the Oakdale Ballroom, it was truly our little uninterrupted oasis for the day.
Congratulations, Sarah and Brian! I hope these photos bring you the best memories.
