They met last November in Florida, where he lives and she was attending a medical conference. Vivek knew immediately, “on the first date”, that Yejin was the one. He was so certain, in fact, that he proposed the very next day. “Vivek asked me to marry him the next day after our first date which I found too crazy. I asked him for more time, like at least six months like normal people do. But he said it was too long. He said he would give me a month, which is too short (to anyone but him, I guess). So we settled on three months for me to decide. I told him at midnight on April 1st that I would marry him.”

Yejin and Vivek both love cooking together and going for walks and they also love good music (Vivek is a musician!). Yejin said Vivek is a “very caring and loving person. He can be very practical and have realistic perspectives. I know I can turn to him if I need life advice.” Vivek described what he admires most about Yejin as “everything.” He added, “She’s down to earth, multitalented, and loving.” They both look forward to growing old together as best friends and traveling the world.

Vivek is here in Iowa now (He said he loves Iowa, even in dreary February!), working remotely, and helping with wedding planning so we were able to enjoy the most beautiful day at the fossil gorge together. Meeting them both was such a joy and I am so excited for their upcoming wedding in a couple months.
