Cydney and Kyle first met in 2019. Their first date was at Stella in Iowa City, a place we returned to for a few photos during their engagement session. “We wanted to go somewhere local and fun! It was the best first date I’ve ever had and I loved everything about that special day,” Cydney said. “Who knew that six years later, I would get to say yes to marrying my best friend?”

Kyle described Cydney as “caring, fun, and hard-working. She is such a kind person. She will always try to make someone happy no matter what. She is so good with kids and helping others in her work. She’s my person and I can’t wait to do life with her. Weddings are one day, but it’s the start of the rest of our lives.”

This past August, Cydney’s family vacationed in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. “A few days after being there, my mom mentioned that we were going to do family pictures, which we typically do when we are on trips so didn’t really think much about it. I noticed that Kyle was a little bit more quiet that day, but nothing strangely out of the ordinary. My parents, my brother and his girlfriend, as well as Kyle and I all got pictures throughout our resort and knew the photographer wanted to get pictures on the beach. We took my family pictures there as well as my brother and his girlfriend, but then Kyle and I were asked to walk along the beach.

“The photographer kept telling us to walk, but Kyle would not walk and kept pulling me back and I kept saying, ‘Kyle, she’s saying walk.’ Little did I know that he was getting down on one knee and proposing. When Kyle said, “Will you marry me,” I turned and look at my family and they were all in tears; they had known the whole time!! It was such a special day!”

Back to where they first met!!! Their wedding is taking place very near here and I said we should go back and do a repeat photo of this in their wedding clothes!

Cydney and Kyle love going to Hawkeye football games together so it was fun to end their session by popping over to Kinnick.
