They met soon after the new year of 2022 had been rung in. They went out for a lunch date and then again that evening for dinner. For both of them, it clicked really quickly. “Everything felt right and I wanted to make a life with Kenzie and our kids,” Jeramey said. Combined, they have three children who they say get along so well. Both of their daughters have known each other for almost 10 years!

Jeramey proposed this past November while they were in Las Vegas with her parents. “We were on the High Roller Ferris wheel and it stopped at the top,” McKenzie described. “I was looking out of the window and turned around and he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We were with my parents about about 20 other strangers. Everyone was cheering and congratulation us; we even got a group picture with everyone who was there. Jeramey had carried the ring around for days in his pocket without me even knowing. My stepmom asked him every day if that day was the day and he said he didn’t know; he was just waiting for the right moment.” Jeramey added, “I was nervous. I knew I was going to ask her when we were on vacation, but waited for what I felt was the perfect time.”

With both of them being parents already, it’s no surprise that one of the things they most admire about the other is their love of their kids. “From the minute Jeramey met my kids, he has treated them as his own. He is the best father to all three of our children and loves them all very much. He is the best provider for us and is very protective of all of us.”

They have a wonderful sense of humor together and they love to laugh and have fun together and I love that were able to capture some of that during their engagement session in downtown Iowa City this past weekend. We rescheduled twice, the first time because of weather and the second time because the Iowa women’s basketball team made it to the national championship and we bumped up the session time so we would be done before the game started. I had so much fun with McKenzie and Jeramey and I’m so excited to add their kids to the photos at their wedding later this year!
