Hi, I'm Emily.

I knew their wedding day would be complete magic because their engagement session was beautiful, delicious (that homemade pasta!), and so comfortable and fun. We could’ve made it a whole day event so we could take photos and then hang out for several hours. In the time since, they have moved to their new house, making their dog, Chief, have a superiority complex with other dogs about his fancy fenced yard. (At least, that’s what we imagine is what he’s saying to them.)

Chief couldn’t join us for the wedding (though his cute little face was on the cocktail napkins!), but Ellie and Joe’s families and friends from all over came to town to celebrate their marriage. And, let me just say, a time was had! (Scroll to the end for proof.) Was it hot? Absolutely. The week before, we had a few days of strangely cool (for Iowa) weather, but then the humidity kicked back into gear and the heat index on Saturday was around 110°, prompting extreme heat warnings for the area. This isn’t really a huge surprise for the Midwest in July–we all know about corn sweat–but I think those few cool days before really threw off our expectations. The humidity was so thick that it appeared as fog on the rolling hills behind Walker Homestead, which was, admittedly, stunning. The details and decor was all pulled together perfectly by Elizabeth Bliss Events and the dance floor that night was outside with live music by Diamond Empire Band, who always brings a whole vibe, and we had so.much.fun!!!

Congratulations, Ellie and Joe!! Enjoy some of my favorite photos from the day!
